Phil Woods with the Tony Pancella Trio
A festival special production
(United States – Italy – Israel)

15.2, Wednesday, 20:30, Hall 1

The festival opening ceremony presents the main artist in a special cross boundary collaboration.
Phil Woods, born in 1931, is one of the all time most important alt-saxophone players. His six-decade career, his recording work and countless performances alongside history’s great jazz's performers, and non-stop creativity, place him at the same heights as alt-saxophone giants: Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderley and Johnny Hodges.
In this show Woods joins the Tony Pancella trio who played for many years with stars like Tony Scott, Enrico Rava, Lee Kunitz, Buddy de Franco and many more. The ensemble will perform standards in the special musical adaptations of Woods alongside his original tunes, which he has played throughout his glamorous career.
