The Judy Wexler Quintet (USA-Israel)
Premiere in Israel

The singer Judy Wexler is considered to be one of the most prominent new vocalists of the west coast jazz scene in the past few years.
The warm voiced Wexler, combines in her singing the Swing and Bop tradition along with a fresh and modern approach to improvisation and vocal interpretation. She performs well-known standards along with songs by artists such as Lennon, McCartney and Bob Dylan.
Her critically acclaimed debut album "Easy On The Heart" came out in 2005 and was played numerous times on American radio.
Wexler's premiere show in Israel would also introduce the pianist and musical adapter Jeff Colella, who worked with great jazz singers such as Anita O'day, Diane Schuur and Shiela Jordan.
Colella musically managed the performances of the legendary Blues and Soul singer Lou Rowles in the last 16 years of his career.

The Ilia Perlstein Trio
"The Great Tunes Of The Piano Players"
A special production for the festival

This year, as in every year, The Tel-Aviv Jazz Festival grants an opportunity to a young and promising musician, and introduces him as a lead of an ensemble in a special project for the festival.

Perlstein performs in Israel since 2000, he participated in "Festival Israel" and was a member of the Saxophone player Robert Anchipolovsky quartet, in which he also cooperated with Italian clarinet player D'amato.
The show will introduce Perlstein's adaptations in a classical format of piano-bass-drums trio to piano players tunes of which he draws his musical inspiration from, among them are Cedar Walton, Bill Evans Horace Silver and Tadd Dameron.

"Solo Piano and Argov Also"

Stefano Bollani combines in his piano playing the rare ability to emotionally bring the audience to tears on one hand and amaze with virtuosic technical abilities on the other.
A few months ago Bollani celebrated his first solo piano recital recording at the prestigious music label ECM-a recording that became a best seller in Europe in general and particularly in Italy.
In the closing performance of The 18th Tel-Aviv Jazz Festival Bollani will perform a recital based on material from this recording and also a world premiere performance of a number of tunes by the well-known Israeli composer Sasha Argov, which he adapted especially for this evening.

The Nadav Haber Quartet
Addis Mist
A special production for the festival

Nadav Haber started his career with the Tel-Aviv jazz ensembles at the end of the 1980's. In 1991 he was introduced for the first time to Ethiopian music and the rest is history.
His Quartet, structured as a traditional jazz quartet, keeps the rhythmic energy and the unique structure of the Ethiopian music, while using elements from traditional jazz, free jazz and even Arab music.
Lately the quartet, which released a debut album named "Addis Mist", was invited to perform at the music festival of Ethiopia.

"Addis Mist" is a show of energy and movement. All the material in the show is original and was inspired by Ethiopian folk music.
The Ethiopian Jewish singer Avach Drerra and the Ethiopian Jewish Saxophone player Abatte Berihon (Ras Deshen), one of the most valued sax players in the country, will be hosted in the show.

The bass player, composer and musical adapter Fernando Knopf immigrated to Israel a few years ago and he is considered to be one of the leading Latin jazz artists in the country.
The ensemble's repertoire leans on Knopf's original tunes in which he combines Cuban and Brazilian beats.
The rich instrumental ensemble and the Cinematheque Foyer atmosphere create great conditions for an experience filled with happiness, beat and emotions!
